How to Make a Happy New Year Dog Video with AI (From One Photo)
A New Year dog video on PawGroove turns one photo of your dog into a short vertical clip: your dog in a plain party hat, dancing as fireworks glow outside. The clip starts silent, with original party tracks available to preview and add afterwards. You upload the photo, pick New Year Dog Dance, and download a clip about 10 seconds long. For Christmas, use the Christmas dog dance.
Input: 1 photo of 1 dog. Output: a vertical 9:16 video, about 10 seconds, with optional music after generation. Free: your first demo is free. No app needed.
Make your New Year dog clip ahead of December 31 so there is time to review or regenerate it. The template stays available after New Year’s Day.
How to make it in 4 steps
- Upload 1 photo of your dog (full body, all four paws visible).
- Pick New Year Dog Dance.
- Generate. The studio shows progress until the clip is ready. There is no guaranteed completion time. Preview mode finishes shortly after you start; a live generation waits on the video provider.
- Download the silent clip, or preview and add music for free. You can come back to My videos to add or change music later.

The moves, beat by beat
Scene: PawGroove first places your dog in a nighttime party setting (a plain paper party hat, string lights, fireworks beyond a window or far in the sky), then animates that frame. No year and no greeting are written on the video.
- Get ready: an eager pose facing the camera, tail wagging, party hat on and fireworks outside.
- Countdown: three clearly separated head nods on the beat, with no numbers on screen.
- Celebrate: both front paws lift together into a joyful pose. They stay dog paws, not hands.
- Paw beats: lower the front paws into small alternating rhythmic taps in place, facing the camera.
- Big finish: both front paws lift again into a held celebration pose, fireworks still outside.
The choreography and the music are original to PawGroove. The clip does not include a commercial New Year recording, and it does not copy a broadcast countdown.
Photo tips
- One dog only. Crop out other pets and people.
- Full body, all 4 paws in frame. Cropped legs or paws are a common cause of bad takes.
- Face clearly visible. Eyes and nose not hidden by toys, hands or shadows.
- No heavy filters. Skip beauty filters, stickers, cartoon effects and strong color grading.
- A plain background and even light help the party scene replace the room.
- A sharp still photo beats a mid-zoomie action shot.
- You do not need a party hat in the photo. The template adds one.
Limits: what can go wrong
- The party hat can slip, duplicate, or vanish partway through the clip.
- Fireworks stay in the background. They are generated scenery, not a photo of a real display.
- No “Happy New Year” line and no year are printed. The model is told not to write words or digits, and any letters that appear can be wrong.
- Cropped paws or legs: the model has to guess the missing parts, so legs can look odd or merge.
- Multiple pets in one photo: usually fails or animates the wrong animal.
- Heavy filters or edited photos: fur color, face shape or markings can drift.
- Other animals are outside this template’s supported input; use one dog photo.
- Beat matching: the music is added after the video is made, so moves line up with the beat only roughly.
- AI variation: every render is a little different. Some takes will look better than others.
If a take looks off, switch to a full-body photo with all four paws visible, remove filters, and crop out other pets, then regenerate. A regenerate is a new generation and costs 10 credits. A failed generation refunds those 10 credits.

FAQ
Can I make a happy New Year dog video from just one photo?
Yes. One photo is all you need. Upload a clear, full-body photo of a single dog, choose New Year Dog Dance, and you get a vertical 9:16 clip about 10 seconds long. No app is required.
How much does a New Year dog video cost?
Your first demo is free: a new account receives 10 welcome credits, enough for one clip. After that each clip costs 10 credits. One-time credit packs: $4.99 for 5 clips (50 credits) and $9.99 for 12 clips (120 credits). Check pricing for current availability.
Does the video say Happy New Year or show the year?
No. The model is told not to write words or a year, because generated letters are often wrong. The party hat, the nods and the fireworks carry the New Year idea, with optional party music afterwards.
Does the clip include a New Year song?
The clip starts silent. You can preview and add an original New Year party song for free after generation or later in My videos. No commercial New Year recording is included. You can keep the silent version to add your own sound when posting.
When should I make the New Year video?
Before December 31 if you want it for New Year’s Eve. Allow time to review or regenerate your clip. The template stays available after New Year’s Day.
Is this the same clip as the Christmas dog dance?
No. Christmas uses a hat, sweater, tree and snow. New Year uses a party hat and fireworks. Each has its own recommended music to add after generation. You can make both from the same photo.
Does it work with cats or with more than one pet?
One dog per photo is what it is built for. Cats and group photos are outside this template’s supported input.
What should I do if the result looks wrong?
Regenerate with a better photo first: full body, all four paws visible, no filters, one dog only, plain background. A regenerate is a new generation and costs 10 credits. A failed generation refunds those 10 credits.
